I have cut the male to male 3.5 mm audio jack and solder two wires, but one should a female 3.5 mm audio jack for. The output jack allows us to connect the signal from the guitar to an amplifier. Probably theres a wire just hanging loose in there. Check the soldering of the ground wire that connects to the back of every control, switch, plug, tailpiece and bridge.
